Bonjour Brilliance and Voice Mastery Together
Bonjour Brilliance gives you the tools to understand and build French.
Voice Mastery shows you what to do with them, so you can think and speak in French with presence and confidence in real conversations.
This subscription gives you full access to:
* Bonjour Brilliance (all libraries and Tutos)
* The Voice Mastery Studio (general and private chat, tasks, feedback)
Live Classes are available separately and work beautifully alongside this, but they are not required to benefit from Voice Mastery.
Voice Mastery is the part of The French Room where your French stops sounding like study and starts sounding like you.
It is not another course.
It is a studio inside Bonjour Brilliance where we work on:
* how you think in French
* how you sound when you speak
* how you come across to the person listening
Steadily, we remove the translation loop and build a French voice that feels natural, comfortable and true to you.
You recognise yourself more by behaviour than by “level”. For example:
* You can follow French, but when it is your turn to speak, everything feels slower and smaller than your thoughts.
* You are fine if you can write or read first, but as soon as someone replies, your French seems to vanish.
* In class you can talk, but in the wild you cannot hold your own in real French conversations.
* Your English personality has humour, stories and opinions. In French, you feel like a quieter, flatter version of yourself.
If any of that sounds familiar, Voice Mastery is designed for you.
By Level 3 and above, most learners already know enough French to say what they want.
What gets in the way is not usually grammar now. It is behaviour:
* building every sentence in English first, then trying to convert it
* shrinking ideas into the smallest, safest sentence
* listening less because you are busy rehearsing your own line
* rising intonation on every sentence because you are checking if you are “right”
* speaking French with English rhythm
* losing your place in the conversation and not knowing how to re-enter
* feeling yourself physically and vocally shrink as soon as the conversation speeds up
These are the things we work on in the Studio.
They are not character flaws.
They are habits. And habits can be changed.
Inside Bonjour Brilliance + Voice Mastery, everything runs on a simple rhythm:Learn → Experiment → Go Live
LearnYou watch short Studio lessons that focus on one thing at a time:* how to start and land your sentences* how to stop over-translating* how French rhythm really works* how to sound sure of yourself without sounding stiff* how to listen in a way that makes answers easier
ExperimentYou try a small, concrete task. For example:* record yourself flexing être in different ways* tell a short story in French using a new rhythm pattern* answer a simple question without planning in English first* respond to a prompt as if you were in a café, at work, or with friends
You can do this in:* your **private Studio chat** (just you and me)* the **general Studio chat** (for shared prompts and light peer support)
You upload an MP3 voice note or MP4 video straight into the chat. I listen, and I give you specific feedback on what to keep, what to change, and what to try next.
Go LiveWhen you feel ready, you take your new voice into:* Live Classes (if you choose to add them)* real conversations in your life* everyday moments: cafés, shops, work, travel
You come back and tell me what happened. We adjust, refine and repeat.
Over time, this quiet rhythm does something powerful: you stop wondering if you can cope when French appears. You know how to meet it. n your first week you will:
1. Enter the Studio
You will see two chats: a general Voice Mastery space and your private Studio chat with me.
2. Do one small task
I will give you a simple first assignment, such as a short être sequence or a tiny story. Nothing theatrical. Nothing performative. Just the first step.
3. Send one recording
You upload an MP3 or MP4 directly in the chat. No special software. Just your phone or computer.
4. Receive one piece of focused feedback
You will hear what you are already doing well and one or two clear changes to try next time.
By the end of week one you should feel two things:
• “This is actually possible for me.”
• “I know what to do next.”
That is enough to begin.
The French Room is designed as a small French quartier:
• Downstairs, in the Libraries, Bonjour Brilliance helps you build your French: vocabulary, structures, listening, reading, pronunciation, culture.
• Upstairs, in the Studio, Voice Mastery shows you how to use that French in real time, without translating in your head.
• Along the corridor, in the Live Classes, you can choose to practise with others in small groups or privately.
You do not have to use every part at once.
Think of it like this:
• Bonjour Brilliance builds your French.
• Voice Mastery frees your French.
• Live Classes (if you choose them) let you take that new voice into the room.
This subscription is designed to support you over 12 months. Here is what a realistic journey can look like.
After 1 month
• You catch yourself translating less.
• Your sentences are simpler and clearer, but closer to what you mean.
• You feel a new kind of stability when you speak, even if you still hesitate.
• You stop assuming “this is only for advanced people”.
After 3 months
• You begin to feel the size of the opportunity.
• You see that this is not about talent, it is about training.
• You recover more easily when you lose a word.
• You notice people responding to you more naturally.
• You start to think: “People like me can really do this.”
After 6 months
• The habits that held you back for years (over-translating, over-planning, shrinking yourself) begin to loosen.
• You say more of what you actually want to say.
• Your French self starts to feel like a real person, not a fragile version of you.
• You begin conversations with presence instead of apology.
After 12 months
• You can hold your own in real French conversations without feeling you must prove yourself in every sentence.
• You adjust your tone naturally for different situations.
• You remember and use stories, opinions and humour.
• You feel at home in the language, even though you are still learning.
• French has moved from “project” to “part of who I am”.
No magic. No overnight promises. Just steady, guided change in how you think, sound and come across.
I am not just a French teacher.
Before The French Room, I spent years training:
• Cambridge postgraduates
• scientists and technical teams
• multilingual professionals
• creative teams across different countries
I designed and ran a programme called Confident Speakers, helping people who felt they should stay quiet to find a voice they could trust — many of them non-native speakers.
The feedback, years later, has been the same:
• “life changing”
• “far better than anything else we’d tried”
• “a unique journey of self-growth and realisation”
Now I bring that experience into French.
Voice Mastery is where that world of presence, structure and communication technique meets your French learning.
When you join this subscription, you get:
* Full access to all Bonjour Brilliance libraries and Tutos
* Full access to the Voice Mastery Studio
* general Studio chat
* private Studio chat for recordings and feedback
* Ongoing tasks and experiments you can fit around your life
* A 12-month framework that respects your time and your intelligence
Live Classes remain separate, so you can add them if and when you want more real-time practice.
If you are ready to stop treating French as something you revise and start treating it as a voice you can grow into, this is your place in The French Room.
